Kamran Nezami is the Managing Partner, President and CEO of University General Hospital Systems, headquartered in Houston, Texas. He is the founder and entrepreneurial spirit behind University General Hospital, and is the visionary that is changing the face of healthcare in the marketplace today. Prior to developing University General Hospital Systems, Mr. Nezami was a financial consultant and stockbroker with such firms as Merrill Lynch & Co., PaineWebber, and Wachovia, with over 12 years experience in the financial industry. This experience provided a hearty background in business and finance, and refined his eye for detail and unparalled expectations of customer service. As the driving force behind the vision of University General Hospital Systems, Mr. Nezami has been featured in such publications as the Houston Chronicle, the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Houston Business Journal, Business Journal Phoenix, Los Angeles Business, San Francisco Business Times, Washington Business Journal, Forbes.com, Commercial Property News, The Columbus Dispatch, Managed Care Online, GlobeSt.com, The Dallas Morning News, MarketWatch by DowJones, and most recently in Modern Healthcare magazine. He is the devoted and nurturing father of one son, and dedicates his free time to coaching football.

 


Kelly Riedel is the Chief Information Officer of University General Hospital Systems where he oversees information management, technology systems, integrated communications, and fully-integrated IT support at all UGHS facilities. Mr. Riedel graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Business Management and is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with 13 years background in the healthcare industry. Most recently, he was founder and president of Sigma Consulting, a provider of information technology consulting services to hospitals throughout the United States. Prior to forming his own company, Mr. Riedel worked at Siemens Health Services as a principal consultant where he specialized in clinical, financial, IT, hardware, and software systems to more than 100 hospitals nationwide. Kelly and his wife, Stephanie, are the proud and dedicated parents of three children, and their leisure time is spent focusing on family activities.
 


Diana Diaz is the Chief Financial Officer of University General Hospital Systems, and is a 1985 graduate from the University of Texas, where she received a B.B.A. in Accounting with High Honors. In addition, she obtained her Certified Public Accounting status in 1988 and received an M.B.A. from Rice University in 2004. Before joining University General Hospital Systems, Ms. Diaz was Director of Financial Services at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center where her key responsibilities included financial management and revenue cycle operations. Prior to her entry into the healthcare industry, Ms. Diaz held a number of accounting and finance positions with Reliant Energy, including Controller of Wholesale Operations. Ms. Diaz began her career with 12 years of public accounting experience in audit with Deloitte & Touche. She and her husband, Dr. Eduardo M. Diaz, Jr., an Associate Professor and Surgeon in the Department of Head Neck Surgery, and Medical Director for International Programs at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, reside in Houston and have two children.
 


Laura Comer is the Vice President of Strategic Implementation and Director of Managed Care for University General Hospital Systems. Prior to joining University General Hospital Systems, Ms. Comer served as Manager of Managed Care Finance at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center where she lead the financial team for managed care and participated in contract negotiations for the organization. Ms. Comer received her B.B.A. in Business Administration and Finance in 1988 from University of Houston. She obtained her Certified Public Accounting status in 1994, and in 2003, Ms. Comer earned her Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) certification and received her M.B.A. with a focus in Healthcare from Our Lady of the Lake University. Ms. Comer is an active member of the local Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) chapter, having been a member since 1996, and serving on its Board of Directors since 2004. In addition, she has served as the Chair of the Managed Care Committee since 2004. In 2005, Ms. Comer was a delegate appointed to a two-year term by HFMA to participate in the national foreign exchange program between the United States and the United Kingdom. In 2007, she will participate in Healthcare Financial Management Association’s (HFMA) and People to People Ambassador Program’s Healthcare Financial Management Delegation to China where she will exchange information regarding healthcare and managed care issues and the impact on China’s economy. She and her husband, David, have been married 17 years and have two children.
   


Robert Calvillo has over six years of experience in healthcare management. Before joining University General Hospital Systems, Robert oversaw the expansion of a single-physician pain management practice with one office to a pain management group consisting of three physicians and one physician assistant, with four offices around the greater Houston metropolitan area. Robert holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Radio, Television, and Film from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Saint Thomas, in Houston, Texas.
